The RTX 4070

NVIDIA’s RTX 4070 has seen quite a lot of changes since the very day it was leaked. Team green as a last minute decision, changed the RTX 4070’s specifications to the now-cancelled RTX 4080 12GB. A while back we came to know from Gamer’s Nexus that NVIDIA is reportedly subsiziding all AIBs at least for the packaging of these GPUs.  Moore’s Law Is Dead has shared some new renders of the RTX 4070. Do note that these images may not represent the final product although, they do give us a good idea of what to expect. The FE RTX 4070 is much thinner than its other Ada counterparts, possibly spanning across just 2.5 slots at max. The 4070 appears to be a slight alteration of the RTX 3070 FE. Although, it’s almost identical to the RTX 4080, which has an FE design exclusive to the 16GB variant.

Specifications of the RTX 4070

The specifications are largely undecided as of now. Part of this results from NVIDIA being unsure about RDNA3‘s performance. From what we were able to gather, RDNA3 can offer as much as a 2.5x uplift from last-gen. Moore’s Law Is Dead mentions that the RTX 4080 12GB GPUs were barely produced by AIBs. The actual GPU itself is and I quote, “gone for the foreseeable future, if not forever“. As per MLID, the RTX 4070 has a few possible specifications based on the above leaks; In short, NVIDIA is waiting for AMD’s next move to make these important decisions. Besides, we have seen far too many leaked specifications to pinpoint NVIDIA’s best go-to choice.

The Ada Titan

HXL shared a few images of what seems to be the RTX 4000 ‘Ada Lovelace’ Titan. The pictures appear to come from a factory where the Titan was possibly being tested. This behemoth spans across 4 complete slots. It does look much thicker than a quad-slot GPU, however, everyone’s free to guess. Besides, if it wasn’t for the ‘GEFORCE RTX‘ label, this might have been mistaken for a large chunk of metal. A closer look at the insides of the GPU gives us an overview of the cooling design. Judging by the size of this thing, one can only imagine how much heat this thing generates. We won’t be surprised if this thing ends up breaking a few motherboards if it ever launches.

Still En Route?

The Ada Lovelace Titan is not officially arriving from NVIDIA anytime soon. However, if RDNA3’s top-notch silicon poses a real threat, NVIDIA may unleash this beast. As of now, both companies are at a stalemate with AMD planning to make the next move on the 3rd of November. Appuals will keep you up to date as the live broadcast unfolds.
